No, you will have to pay additional fees when booking your ticket.

In-flight meals are not complimentary.

What Are the Vegan Meal Options on Air Asia?

Air Asia vegan meal options will depend on where you’re flying from.

Meals cost around $4 USD depending on where you’re flying from and which country operates the Air Asia flights.

Air Asia Vegan Meals Review

Manila, Philippines to Seoul, South Korea, 2023

I chose the Vegetable Rice bowl, and here’s what I got:

Vegetables and tofu on a bed or rice. The seasoning was pretty good and not bland. But, the portion is on the smaller size, and I was hungry after, so make sure to bring snacks.

How to Request a Vegan Meal on Air Asia

You can request a special in-flight meal with Air Asia during your booking. There will be a section titled “Santan Value Meal” to add your meal:

You won’t see the special meal request on your confirmation emails, but you can you go back to your booking on AirAsia.com to confirm.

To book a special vegan meal on Air Asia after you book your flight, look for your booking on their website and then prebook a meal.

When Can You Request a Special Meal on Air Asia?

You can request your vegan meal up to 24 before your flight.

From their website:

“Pre-book your meals through our website at least 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure.”

When Do You Get Served Your Vegan Meal?

Special meals generally get served first, and early. Sometimes you’ve finished your food before others are even served! (I personally wait until my row gets served before I start eating, just a cultural thing. Unless I’m really hungry.)

So I always breathe a sigh of relief when a flight attendant either comes up to me at the beginning of the flight confirming my seat and vegan meal, or when they come up to my row with my vegan meal early. Phew!

That being said, don’t change your seat since the special meal is assigned to your seat number.

If there are lots of seats and you want to move, make sure to tell them first that you’re moving and if it’s possible to serve your vegan meal at your new seat.

Meals are generally served an hour or two after landing and before arrival.

Thumbs Up for Air Asia Vegan Meals

Of all the budget airlines in Asia, Air Asia has added the most amount of vegan meals within Asia, and at decent prices.

I look forward to trying the other vegan meals on future flights with Air Asia.
