Xiamen Airlines Vegan Meal Options (Review + Photos)
Does Xiamen Airlines provide vegan meals on their flights? Yes, they do!
I recently took a flight with Xiamen Airlines, from Seoul to Xiamen, then Xiamen to Singapore, with a layover in Xiamen.
We were served generous meals on both flights.

Does Xiamen Airlines Provide Free Meals on Flights?
Xiamen Airlines provides complimentary hot meals and snacks on international and domestic flights.
Both my flights were 3 to 5 hours each, and I received meals and snacks for both.
What Are Xiamen Airlines Vegan Meal Options?
Xiamen Airlines has two vegan meal options:
- VOML: Vegetarian Oriental Meal(Without Milk & Egg)
- FPML: Fruit Platter Meal

Seoul, South Korea to Xiamen, China, 2023 (3 hours)
I chose the Vegetarian Oriental Meal and here’s what I got:
Meal: Vegetable and rice dish, bread roll, fruit and tomatoes, pack of dried fruit, and pack of side fermented vegetables. It comes with lots of rice!
Snack: Decent sized-pack of assorted nuts.
Xiamen, China to Singapore, 2023 (5 hours)
I chose the Vegetarian Oriental Meal and here’s what I got:
This was basically similar to the meal above.
Meal: Vegetable and rice dish, bread roll, fruit and tomatoes, pack of dried fruit, and pack of side fermented vegetables.
Snack: The same pack of assorted nuts as above.
How to Request a Xiamen Airlines Vegan Meal
You can request a special in-flight meal with Xiamen Airlines during your booking.
However, I booked my flight with Trip.com and didn’t have the option to select special meals there.
On their website, it says to contact Xiamen Airlines to request a special meal. Since I didn’t have a China or global sim, I reached out on Twitter @XiamenAirlines and they were quick to respond:
When Can You Request a Special Meal on Xiamen Airlines?
You can request your vegan meal up to 24 hours before your flight.
From their website:
“Special meals must be requested at least 24 hours before the departure of the passenger’s initial flight.”
When Do You Get Served Your Vegan Meal?
Special meals generally get served first, and early. Sometimes you’ve finished your food before others are even served! (I personally wait until my row gets served before I start eating, just a cultural thing. Unless I’m really hungry.)
That being said, don’t change your seat since the special meal is assigned to your seat number.
If there are lots of seats and you want to move, make sure to tell them first that you’re moving and if it’s possible to serve your vegan meal at your new seat.
Meals are generally served an hour or two after landing and before arrival.
Thumbs Up for Xiamen Airlines Vegan Meals
This was my first time flying with Xiamen Airlines, and while the vegan meals are basic, they were filling and generous!
Even though the flights were short, we still received complimentary meals and didn’t have to pay additional fees.
I would fly with Xiamen Airlines again.
