Xiamen Airlines Vegan Meal Options (Review + Photos)

Does Xiamen Airlines provide vegan meals on their flights? Yes, they do!

I’ve taken four flights with Xiamen Airlines now, from Seoul to Xiamen, Xiamen to Singapore, Chengdu to Xiamen, then Xiamen to Manila, with layovers in Xiamen.

We were served generous meals on both flights.

Does Xiamen Airlines Provide Free Meals on Flights?

Xiamen Airlines provides complimentary hot meals and snacks on international and domestic flights.

My flights were 2 to 5 hours each, and I received meals and sometimes snacks.

What Are Xiamen Airlines Vegan Meal Options?

Xiamen Airlines has two vegan meal options:

• VOML: Vegetarian Oriental Meal (Without Milk & Egg)
• FPML: Fruit Platter Meal

Xiamen Airlines Vegan Meals Review

Seoul, South Korea to Xiamen, China, 2023 (3 hours)

I chose the Vegetarian Oriental Meal and here’s what I got:

Meal: Vegetable and rice dish, bread roll, fruit and tomatoes, pack of dried fruit, and pack of side fermented vegetables. It comes with lots of rice!

Xiamen, China to Singapore, 2023 (5 hours)

I chose the Vegetarian Oriental Meal and here’s what I got:

This was basically similar to the meal above.

Meal: Vegetable and rice dish, bread roll, fruit and tomatoes, pack of dried fruit, and pack of side fermented vegetables.

Snack: The same pack of assorted nuts as above.

Chengdu to Xiamen, 2026 (2.5 hours)

I chose the Vegetarian Oriental Meal and here’s what I got:

I got a mushroom and tofu stir fry with a side of tomatoes, a pack of pickled vegetables, a red bean pastry, and a bag of hawthorn candy.

No snack this flight, likely due to the short flight time.

Xiamen to Manila, 2026 (2.5 hours)

I chose the Vegetarian Oriental Meal and here’s what I got:

Similar to the first meal, but a vegetable-tofu stir fry and an additional banana.

How to Request a Xiamen Airlines Vegan Meal

The first time I booked my flight with Trip.com and didn’t have the option to select special meals there.

The second time I booked directly with Xiamen Airlines, and didn’t see an option to choose a special meal.

On their website, it says to contact Xiamen Airlines to request a special meal.

➡️ Send an email to [email protected] with the following information:

• Full name
• Ticket number
• Copy of passport
• Meal request i.e. vegan meal

When Can You Request a Special Meal on Xiamen Airlines?

You can request your vegan meal up to 24 hours before your flight.

From their website:

“Special meals must be requested at least 24 hours before the departure of the passenger’s initial flight.”

Thumbs Up for Xiamen Airlines Vegan Meals

This was my first time flying with Xiamen Airlines, and while the vegan meals are basic, they were filling and generous!

Even though the flights were short, we still received complimentary meals and didn’t have to pay additional fees.

I would fly with Xiamen Airlines again.
