How to Visit Yonsei University in Seoul – Kdrama Filming Sites
Yonsei University
Address: 50 Yonsei-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Name in Korean: 연세대학교
As a kdrama fan, I knew I had to visit Yonsei University during my visit to Seoul, South Korea. True Beauty is one of my favorite rom-com dramas, and many parts of the drama was filmed on campus.
Plus, I enjoy visiting campuses when I travel. They have an enchanting feel to them.

About Yonsei University
Yonsei University was founded in 1885. It’s usually ranked one of the top 3 universities in South Korea. You’ll see some international students on campus as they accept a small percentage of foreigner applicants each year.
If you’re new to South Korea, make sure to read my South Korea travel guide for first-time visitors.

Is Yonsei University Open to Visitors and Tourists?
Yonsei University has an official campus tour for free that you can join but it’s mostly geared towards potential students.
If you’re visiting just to look and walk around, there were no restrictions or gates to enter from what I saw.
The university is also one of the starting points to hike Mt. Ansan.

How to Get to Yonsei University
Once you enter the university, you’ll go down the main entrance’s walking quad. Just keep walking up and you’ll see several beautiful halls and gothic-style buildings.
Do note there are slightly steep hills walking up to buildings.
By Subway
The closest train station to Yonsei University is Sinchon Station. Take exit 2. The walk to the university entrance is a 20-minute walk, but you’ll pass by charming shops and restaurants that give the area a college-town feel to it.
By Bus
Depending on where you’re coming from, there are many buses that stop right at the university entrance. I recommend downloading the CityMapper app for your trip to Seoul.
The CityMapper app is in English and more user-friendly for Seoul than Kakao Map or Naver Map in my opinion! You can also use Google Maps, but just note that while Google Maps provides bus and walking routes for Seoul, it does not give just walking routes.
By Taxi
You can also hail a taxi to the university. Uber works in Seoul if you don’t have the Kakao Taxi app, or don’t want to hail a taxi. Don’t rely on Uber however, as it’s not always widely-available in Seoul, or sometimes it just takes a while to find one.
Best Time to Visit Yonsei University
Yonsei University changes with the seasons, and each season is a beautiful time to visit. I went during summer in Seoul, and the buildings were covered in greenery.
Every building is well-kept. During winter, the buildings and trees will be covered in snow. In spring you’ll see trees blooming with white and pink flowers and cherry blossoms.
During autumn, Yonsei University is at its most colorful with green, orange, yellow, and red leaves. Here’s when I re-visited Yonsei University in late autumn:
There are also benches to sit on throughout the university. You’ll see both local and international students throughout the campus.
Should you Visit Yonsei University?
If you’re visiting Seoul, I recommend adding a visit to Yonsei University to your trip, especially if you’re a kdrama fan or just enjoy visiting beautiful campuses.
The area also has a nice college town feel to it, away from the main tourist spots. I would definitely visit again and see the campus during the changing seasons.
