9 Vegan Restaurants in Fukuoka to Add to Your Trip (2025)
I spent a week in Fukuoka, Japan and enjoyed the vegan food.
While Fukuoka doesn’t have as many vegan restaurants as Osaka or Tokyo, the vegan food options were plenty.
I also found that Fukuoka had more healthy dishes along with western cuisine options.
Here’s all of the vegan food and vegan restaurants I tried in Fukuoka, along with my reviews, tips, and costs for each vegan restaurant.
Plus, a list of vegan Fukuoka restaurants I didn’t get to, but would try next time!

Heading to these cities next?
1. Evah Macrobiotic Vegan Dining
Hours: open daily, 10am-7pm
Price range: 1155 yen for lunch set ($7 USD)
All locations: evahdining.com/shops
Evah Macrobiotic Vegan Dining is a vegan chain in Fukuoka, but only one location has a sit-down restaurant, located inside the Hakata Riverain Mall on the first floor.
This was a staple for me as it was walking distance from my stay.
I actually ate here four times! The food was filling, good quality, and affordable.
Each time I got the lunch set that comes with rice, soup, vegetable sides, and a vegan protein. The other option is a pasta set.
Tip:
- At each location you can buy vegan bento sets, which are discounted at night before closing.
I got vegan bento boxes to go for my flight back to Tokyo for around $3 USD.
On the last time I went, they gave me vegan milk to go, which was so nice of them!
2. Hakata Hiiragi Taiyaki
Taiyaki is a fish-shaped pastry that’s typically filled with sweet red bean paste.
Taiyaki is usually not vegan, so it was great being able to try it for the first time! (If you’re visiting Tokyo, they also have vegan taiyaki at Taiyaki Hiiragi.)
Tip:
- It’s better fresh and eaten on the spot. I walked 20 minutes, and they lost its crisp. I went again and ate it on the small bench there, and it was much better!
- Their soft serve is not vegan, only vegetarian.
3. Rota Cafe Daimyo Honten
Hours: 11 AM–5 PM, closed Mondays and Tuesdays
Price range: 1700-2000 yen ($11-12 USD) for sets, 600 yen ($4 USD for desserts)
This all-vegan restaurant is located in beautiful cafe with plenty of seating.
I got the special Rota lunch plate with miso soup, vegan protein, rice, salad, and sides, along with coffee.
The vegetables were fresh, but for comparison’s sake, I preferred the similar lunch set at Evah’s as it had more flavor.
4. Sonu Sonu
Hours: Opens daily at 8am, closing times vary
Price range: Around 1200 yen ($7)
Sonu Sonu is located in downtown Tenjin, and is probably my 2nd favorite vegan restaurant in Fukuoka after Evah.
As other reviewers have said, service is just okay and the menu can be limited.
But the food was really good!
I got the vegan cheese burger which was really flavorful and I enjoyed the latte.
Tip:
- You scan a QR code and place the order on your phone, then pay after at the counter.
- Their taco meat plate is another popular dish.
5. Plant-based Cafe NICE
Hours: Closed on Mondays, opens at 11:30AM, closing time varies
Price range: Around 1300 yen ($8 USD)
This all-vegan restaurant in Fukuoka is a burger spot with different burger topping variations.
I got the cheese burger for 1315 yen + sweet potato fries for 660 yen.
Each burger comes with a really tasty side salad.
The burger was good and filling with fresh ingredients. I did however prefer the other burger at Sonu Sonu.
Tip:
- Ask for the English menu.
- Seating is one big table, but it’s a nice cozy vibe and the owner/staff is friendly.
Day Trip from Fukuoka
I also took a day trip to Dazaifu Tenmangu. The popular umegae mochi you’ll see at a lot of vendors is vegan!
This mochi has sweet red bean filling inside but is grilled.
It’s best eaten warm and on the spot!

These were the vegan restaurants and vegan food I didn’t try in Fukuoka, and would try on a next trip.
6. Vegan Shokudo Funadeya
I really wanted to eat here, but the opening hours didn’t work with my schedule.
It’s located farther from center, but near Shingu beach, which I recommend visiting for a secluded beach!
7. Recell Kitchen
When I went here, they were closed for a seminar sadly.
Reviews online are just okay, but the food looks good!
8. Soy Stories
Hours: Open daily from 11AM-10PM
Food: Vegan gluten-free donuts, waffles, and ice cream!
9. Bugoro
This was the only place in Fukuoka that I found that serves a vegan version of the famous Hakata ramen, but they only have space for three people. Next time!
Each ramen set is 3,500 yen ($22 USD) which comes with a drink and vegan dessert.
Other vegan Fukuoka restaurants or vegan options to check out:
Chandan Cafe (Salads, curries, smoothies)
TOFFEE park (Soy milk drinks, right by the river)
Kafe Toruko (not vegan, but has vegan Turkish food)
CoCo Ichibanya (chain, serves a vegetable curry option)
