Visitor’s Guide to Uminonakamichi Seaside Park in Fukuoka
During my recent trip to Fukuoka, I was looking up nearby day trips I could take.
I came across the Uminonakamichi Seaside Park located across the bay from central Fukuoka. Turns out I was in Fukuoka just in time to visit for the popular blue flower fields, or Nemophilia “baby blue eyes.”
I was surprised how massive the park was!
It has extensive flower gardens, playgrounds, sports fields, and a water park.
The park is located at the northern edge of Fukuoka, but you can get there by train, bus, or ferry.

Things to see at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park:
Flower Museum
The park is famous for its seasonal flower displays, especially during spring for the blue nemophila flowers and vibrant fields in autumn.
The flower gardens also has tulips, roses, and sunflowers that bloom in different seasons.
I went at the tail end of the rose season, but there were some left.
Cycling Paths
You can rent a bicycle to explore the park’s many cycling paths. The paths are well-marked and offer routes of different lengths.
You can also join a fun segway tour to get around.
Ponds
There’s various ponds throughout the park. The smaller ones are in the main central park, and for bigger ponds like Duck Pond and Forest Pond you have to travel a bit to the farther east areas of the park.
Beaches and Sea Views
You can relax on the park’s sandy beaches or enjoy sea views on the lookout platforms.
I wish I had walked a bit further to find these. Definitely plan ahead on what you’d like to see!
Sky Shelter
This is located towards the west-end parking lot and perfect for photo ops.
Activities for Kids
The park is very kid-friendly if you’re traveling with children. Here’s some of the activities:
- Large playground area
- Swimming pool (open during summer)
- Go-karts and slides
- Crafts workshops
Picnic Areas
There are grass areas plus designated spots for enjoying a picnic throughout the park. Some are equipped with tables and benches.
You can also use the covered tables as shown above.
There are also a few restaurants and cafes located at the park.
I enjoyed just sitting on the grass.

Is Uminonakamichi Seaside Park Worth it?
I would go again, especially during the peak times of the different flower seasons. I feel like I just scratched the surface during my visit!
If you go, plan ahead on what activities you want to do, and see where they’re located on the map.
I mainly went to see the blue flower fields and relax on the grassy areas, but that itself was so peaceful.
I hope this guide was helpful to help plan your trip. Have a fun time visiting!
