Osaka Amazing Pass Review + If It’s Worth Getting (2026)

Osaka turned out to be one of my favorite cities in Japan.

I often DIY all my trips, but I came across the Osaka Amazing Pass and it had many good reviews.

What caught my eye was the unlimited rides on public transit.

Since I was in Osaka for a week with day trips, I decided to dedicate 2 days in Osaka using the pass.

Here’s my review of the 2-day Osaka Amazing Pass, what attractions I used it with, and if it was worth it in the end — or if I should have just DIY’d it.

Should you get a 1-day or 2-day pass?

Get the 1-day pass only if you’re doing a day trip in Osaka.

With limited time, the pass will help you skip the lines, especially for popular attractions like Osaka Castle.

I recommend getting the 2-day pass if you’re staying two or more days.

Do set your expectations though — you won’t be able to get through a fraction of the included attractions as there’s so many.

What’s Included in the Osaka Amazing Pass

• Unlimited rides on Osaka Metro, New Tram, and city buses, along with some private railway lines. I mostly used it for the metro and some buses as needed.
• Access to 40+ attractions, including Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building, Tombori River Cruise, Tsutenkaku Tower, Hep Five Ferris Wheel, Osaka Museum of Housing and Living, Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel, and more.
• Discounts for selected restaurants, shops, and additional attractions.

Important: Make sure to read the “Closed” and “Caution” sections under each attraction for any special opening hours or instructions i.e. you can only enter the Umeda Sky Building free until 3pm.

My Osaka Itinerary Using the 2-Day Pass

During my time in Osaka, I used the pass on the two days when I knew I’d be using public transit the most, plus when I’d be visiting attractions included in the pass.

I used the Osaka Amazing Pass to guide where to go, but also visited sites that weren’t on the pass if they were in the area.

Day 1 using Osaka Amazing Pass:

I mostly used the pass for night spots on the first day and utilized the pass for public transportation:

Shitenno-ji Temple

Shitenno-ji Temple was founded in 593 by Prince Shotoku, and is one of Japan’s oldest temples,

You can explore the small grounds with the beautiful five-story pagoda.

To go up the main tower, you have to take off your shoes.

Admission is included in the pass.

It closes at 4 PM, so plan your visit accordingly if you decide to visit.

HEP Five Ferris Wheel

The HEP Five Ferris Wheel sits right in the heart of the Umeda shopping district.

I went at night and took a solo ride. The line wasn’t long at all.

The views are better after dark, and if you can figure it out, you can connect your phone via Bluetooth to play your own music during the ride.

Dotonbori River Cruise

A main attraction I used the pass for was the Dotonbori River Cruise.

It’s one of the easiest ways to see the iconic Glico sign and buildings from the water.

While there are daytime options, I’d recommend going at night when the neon lights really stand out.

I chose the 8:30 PM time slot.

The guides are lively and often get everyone waving to people along the canal, which makes the experience more fun.

Day 2 using Osaka Amazing Pass:

Osaka Castle

The Osaka Castle is one of the most visited landmarks in Osaka.

It’s a historic fortress in Osaka that now serves as a museum with panoramic views of the city.

Without the pass, you’ll likely run into long ticket lines, especially during busy hours.

This is one of the main attractions that people buy the pass for, especially since lines to purchase tickets in person can get quite long.

With the Osaka Amazing Pass, you can skip the ticket line.

Umeda Sky Building

The Umeda Sky Building has one of the best viewpoints in Osaka.

The observation deck at the top offers wide, open views across the city.

There’s also a cafe inside if you want to sit and take a break while enjoying the view from the open glass windows.

It’s also popular for the long tunnel-like escalators going up to the observatory.

➡️ With the Osaka Amazing Pass you can only enter until 3pm. Otherwise, you’d have to pass if you want to see the sunset or night views.

I went earlier in the day where it was less crowded and it was worth visiting.

Tsutenkaku Tower

The tower is located within the Shinsekai district or the “New World,” a retro-style neighborhood in southern Osaka with restaurants, bars, games, and shops.

This area is best visited at night, trust me!

You can get views of Osaka from the tower’s observation deck, as well as ride the slide at the Tsutenkaku Tower, though lines can get long.

I visited the area, but missed the last call to do the slide. Next time!

Other Attractions I Regret Not Going to With the Pass

I think because I had a bit of travel burnout or was a bit tired from walking, I didn’t utilize the pass completely.

I researched through the list of available attractions included in the pass, and these sites looked worth visiting:

Tempozan Ferris Wheel

Though it’s a bit farther from central Osaka, this giant Ferris wheel is located by the waterfront with wide views of the bay.

It’s one of the largest Ferris wheels in Japan, and I would’ve timed it for sunset or nighttime views.

Wonder Cruise

The Wonder Cruise is another river cruise option that passes through the Dotonbori area, offering a slightly different experience from the Tombori River Cruise.

I love water views, and wish I had scheduled in one more ride.

Osaka Museum of Housing and Living

This museum lets you walk through life-sized recreations of old Osaka streets, giving a glimpse into what the city looked like during the Edo period.

How to Use the Osaka Amazing Pass

The easiest way to get the Osaka Amazing Pass is to purchase it through platforms like Klook (1+ million booked!).

You can choose between a 1-day or 2-day pass, depending on your itinerary.

After purchasing, you’ll receive a digital pass in the form of a QR code.

When I previously bought the pass, I had to exchange a voucher for a physical ticket, but the newer version is fully digital.

You can now scan the QR code at subway ticket gates and on buses, and staff will scan it at each attraction for entry.

Using the digital pass also means you don’t have to worry about losing a paper ticket — just make sure your phone stays charged.

Is the Osaka Amazing Pass Worth It?

Yes! Again, as someone who usually DIY’s everything, I found the pass worth it.

While you won’t be able to get through everything on the list, you’ll save money than if you paid for separate tickets and used public transportation.

You also save time by skipping the lines, especially for popular attractions like the Osaka Castle.

If I can skip the line while saving time and money with the pass — it’s a no brainer for me.

Plus, the pass helps you structure your itinerary by choosing what you want to see, and when to see them.

All in all, it was worth it, and I’d actually buy the pass again to use it for the attractions I didn’t get to.
