9 Kpop Demon Hunters Filming Locations to Visit in Seoul

The setting of Kpop Demon Hunters was inspired by several real locations around Seoul, and you can visit many of them in person.

I’ve been to South Korea seven times and love tracking down filming spots, so it was nice to recognize familiar places while watching the movie.

Here’s nine filming locations in Kpop Demon Hunters in Seoul worth visiting, along with tips to help you plan your own visit.

All are listed in order of appearance in the film.

1. Seoul Olympic Stadium

The stadium first appears during HUNTR/X’s concert in the opening scene, and is used as the primary concert venue in Kpop Demon Hunters.

In real life, the venue is part of the large Jamsil Sports Complex, where mostly sports events are held, though I’ve also been to concerts at the smaller Jamsil Arena next door.

➡️ Even if you’re not attending a game or concert, you can walk around the grounds.

2. Myeongdong Street

The shopping streets where HUNTR/X dress in disguise and where the Saja Boys first perform are set in Myeongdong, a popular area for shopping and street food.

It’s Seoul’s most touristy and packed area, but it’s still fun to visit, even just for hotteok or roasted sweet potatoes.

Myeongdong in real life:

The image captures a lively scene of Myeongdong Street in Seoul, South Korea, viewed from above. Shoppers stroll past various street food vendors and stalls under strings of decorative lights, while a prominent SPAO clothing store with its bright red facade is seen in the background. The bustling atmosphere highlights the vibrant shopping and dining culture of this popular district.

➡️ Another popular shopping area is Hongdae District, where you’ll find more street performances compared to Myeongdong.

3. Lotte World Tower

The HUNTR/X headquarters appears to be inspired by the Lotte World Tower in Seoul, the sixth tallest building in the world.

In real life, it’s part of the Lotte World Mall, but you can up to the Seoul Sky Observatory for similar skyline views.

➡️ While there, you can also visit the Lotte World Theme Park. For a great view of the tower at night, visit Seokchon Lake next door.

In the foreground, a digital weather display shows the temperature at 8.8°C and humidity at 47%, while autumn foliage and city buildings add depth to the scene.

4. Bukchon Hanok Village

Bukchon Hanok Village is one of Seoul’s top attractions: a beautiful neighborhood with over nine-hundred hanok, or traditional Korean homes.

It’s where Rumi and Jinu first meet in secret, and later return and sing “Free.”

➡️ If you visit, make sure to be respectful of the residents. Early morning or weekday visits are best for fewer crowds.

🎥 This is also a popular kdrama filming location in shows like Heartstrings, Personal Taste, and Love Next Door.

5. Gyeongbokgung Palace

In Jinu’s flashback, a palace appears that looks like Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest and most famous of Seoul’s palaces, and the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty.

There’s five palaces in Seoul worth visiting, though I’ve been to Gyeongbokgung Palace a few times, and it’s the one I recommend most.

➡️ Entrance costs 3,000 won ($2.70 USD), but it’s free on the last Wednesdays of the month or if you wear a hanbok.

6. Naksan Park

Naksan Park appears a few times in the film, first during Rumi and Jinu’s second private meeting.

This is one of my favorite parks in Seoul, especially during autumn. I recommend visiting at night when you’ll see the fortress trails lit up (turns off at 11pm):

➡️ Another similar fortress wall you can visit is Baekbeom Square, located right next to Namsan Park.

🎥 Naksan Park is also a popular kdrama filming location in shows like Itaewon Class, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, and Call It Love.

7. COEX Square

The popular LED screen located at COEX Mall is used to promote HUNTR/X’s new song.

It’s Korea’s largest digital billboard built in 2020.

➡️ This is located at COEX Mall, Asia’s largest underground mall and where the famous Starfield Library and Gangnam Hands statue are:

COEX Starfield Library in Seoul features towering floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with colorful books, curving around the open space. The library is decorated with golden holiday lights, suspended star ornaments, and a tall, shimmering Christmas tree topped with a golden star.

If you’re a kpop fan, make sure to visit KTown4U’s three-floor kpop store at COEX.

📍 Another large LED screen is used to announce Saja Boy’s concert. This seems to be in Myeongdong or near Gwanghwamun Square in downtown Seoul, where you’ll also see large LED screens.

8. N. Seoul Tower

This is one of Seoul’s most iconic landmarks, appearing throughout the movie’s backdrop, including views from HUNTR/X’s headquarters.

The N. Seoul Tower is also the location where the Saja Boys have their concert towards the end of Kpop Demon Hunters.

The tower is perched on Namsan Mountain within Seoul’s largest park. There’s no actual concert venue there, but it’s a popular site to see panoramic views of the city.

➡️ You can hike up, take a taxi, ride the cable car, or take a city bus. I’ve done them all many times (minus the taxi) and each one is a fun adventure. Visit in the evening for great night and sunset views.

🎥 This is also a popular kdrama filming location in shows like True Beauty, Love Next Door, and Boys Over Flowers, specifically at the Locks of Love viewing deck.

9. Traditional Villages in Seoul

Namsangol Hanok Village in Seoul showcases traditional Korean houses with dark tiled roofs and white walls, enclosed by stone and mud walls. A dirt pathway winds through the village, leading past wooden structures with intricate eaves, while modern high-rise buildings stand in the background. The view is framed by the wooden beams of a traditional roof

If you’d like to visit traditional villages in Seoul similar to Jinu’s hometown, you can visit Namsangol Hanok Village, a restored traditional village with Joseon-era houses, a pavilion, and a time capsule.

➡️ It also offers views of Namsan Tower, and admission is free.
