Guide to Visiting Haneul Park in Seoul (+ Best Time to Visit)
Haneul Park in Seoul takes a little extra effort to reach by public transit, but it’s worth the trip for its views and wide open nature.
I’ve visited twice now, and it’s especially beautiful during autumn and in the evening.
This guide covers everything you need to know before visiting Haneul Park, including how to get there, what to see, and when it’s best to go.

Where is Haneul Park in Seoul?

Haneul Park is one of the five parks located within the World Cup Park area in Mapo-gu. It’s located on top of a hill along the Han River.

Best Time to Visit Haneul Park (Season, Time of Day)

Autumn-Time
When I first visited in early November in 2024, I missed the peak of the Pampas Grass Festival of fiery red-pink Kochia flowers, but there was plenty of silver grass.
When I went again in the second week of November in 2025, all of the flora was in its peak due to a delayed autumn season.
It’s hard to predict the peak season in 2025. I recommend checking the Google Maps page for Haneul Park and sort the comments by newest for recent photos.
Note there are no more of the famous pink muhly grass.
Other Seasons
In summer, the park will be greener, while winter brings a drier landscape, though the sunset and night views are still worth it.
➡️ Regardless of seasons, if you can, visit just before sunset and stay til evening.
As a solo female traveler, I’ve always felt safe and there will be quite a bit of visitors into the late night.
Haneul Park Highlights & Best Photo Spots
While Haneul Park is most famous for its silver and kochia grass in autumn, there are also art displays, sunset views, and views of Han River and Seoul that are worth seeing.
Many of the art displays change per season.
Art Installations

Regardless of season, I believe the giant teddy bear will always be there.

Silver Grass

If you visit Haneul Park during the autumn months of October and early November, you’ll likely see the Pampas Grass Festival with beautiful fields of light pink-silver eulalia grass.
Kochia Burning Bush
During the peak of autumn, you’ll also see a field of fiery red-pink Kochia.

Rest Areas
There will be plenty of aesthetic resting spots, some of which will be lit up at night.

Sunset Views

If you visit just before sunset, walk towards the tail-end of the park where the giant bear is.
There will a viewing deck along the Han River to watch sunset views.
There are also smaller viewing decks to the left of here near the restroom.
Seasonal Art Displays

Depending on the season, you may come across temporary art exhibits and installations.
I went just after Halloween, and the photos above were the art I saw (2023).
And these were some of the displays I saw last year in 2024:

How to Get to Haneul Park (Subway, Shuttle, or Walk)

By Public Transit:
Spoiler: Whether by bus or train, you will have to walk a bit.
Use Naver Map to get directions. Google underestimates the walking distance and time!
By bus:
Depending on where you coming from, buses 172 and 271 will stop at World Cup Stadium.
From there, it will be around a 25 to 30-minute walk.
A lot of it will be on flat paved paths and through the gigantic World Park, along with an overpass:

By train:
If you take the train, get off at either World Cup Stadium or Mapo-gu Office stations.
From there, it will be a 35 to 40-minute walk.
By taxi:
If you don’t want to walk, take an Uber or Kakao taxi and ask to be dropped off at the entrance to Haneul Park, where you will either take the stairs or shuttle to go up.
If you drive, there is a parking lot, and from there you can take the shuttle or stairs.
Haneul Park Shuttle Information

Once you get to the entrance of Haneul Park, you can either take the zigzag stairs up to the top (331 steps), or take the shuttle.
Shuttle cost: 3,000 won ($2 USD) for round-trip.
You may have to queue during the busy autumn season, but the shuttles come frequently.
By stairs:
I took the stairs up and back down. The views from the top of the Haneul Park entrance, especially during autumn and in the evening were some of my favorite views in Seoul.

Once at the top, you follow a flat pathway that will lead to the park.
