Visitor’s Guide to Haneul Park in Seoul (2025)
Haneul Park was a nice surprise, and while it’s harder to get to than other places in Seoul by public transit, it was definitely worth visiting.
I’ve visited twice now, and it’s especially beautiful during autumn and in the evening.
Here’s everything you need to know about Haneul Park, including how to get there and what to see.

Where is Haneul Park?
Haneul Park is one of the five parks located within the World Cup Park area in Mapo-gu. It’s located on top of a hill along the Han River.

Summary: What to See at Haneul Park
- Art displays

- Views of Han River and Seoul
- Silver and Kochia grass (autumn only)
When to Visit Haneul Park
Both times I went in November during the peak and the tail-end of autumn for the Pampas Grass Festival.
During the summer there will be more greenery.
During winter, Haneul Park seems quite dry, but the sunsets and views should still be quite beautiful.
How to Get to Haneul Park
By Public Transit:
Spoiler: Whether by bus or train, you will have to walk a bit.
Use CityMapper or Naver Map to get directions. Google underestimates the walking distance and time!
By bus:
Depending on where you coming from, buses 172 and 271 will stop at World Cup Stadium.
From there, it will be around a 25 to 30-minute walk.
A lot of it will be on flat paved paths and through the gigantic World Park, along with an overpass:
By train:
If you take the train, get off at either World Cup Stadium or Mapo-gu Office stations.
From there, it will be a 35 to 40-minute walk.
By taxi:
If you don’t want to walk, take an Uber or Kakao taxi and ask to be dropped off at the entrance to Haneul Park, where you will either take the stairs or shuttle to go up.
If you drive, there is a parking lot, and from there you can take the shuttle or stairs.
Haneul Park Shuttle
Once you get to the entrance of Haneul Park, you can either take the zigzag stairs up to the top (291 steps), or take the shuttle.
Shuttle cost: 3,000 won ($2 USD) for round-trip.
You may have to queue during the busy autumn season, but the shuttles come frequently.
By stairs:
I took the stairs up and back down. The views from the top of the Haneul Park entrance, especially during autumn and in the evening were some of my favorite views in Seoul.
Once at the top, you follow a flat pathway that will lead to the park.
Things to see at Haneul Park:
Art Installations
Whichever season you visit Haneul Park, there will be art displays and installations to check out, such as the giant teddy bear.
Silver Grass
If you visit Haneul Park during the autumn months of October and early November, you’ll get to see the Pampas Grass Festival with beautiful fields of light pink-silver eulalia grass.
Kochia Burning Bush
During the peak of autumn, you’ll also see a field of fiery red-pink Kochia:
Rest Areas
There will be lots of aesthetic resting spots, some of which will be lit up at night.
Sunset Views
If you visit just before sunset, walk towards the tail-end of the park where the giant bear is.
There will a viewing deck along the Han River to watch sunset views.
There are also smaller viewing decks to the left of here near the restroom.
Seasonal Art Displays
Depending on the season, you may come across temporary art exhibits and installations.
I went just after Halloween, and these were the art I saw (2023).
And these were some of the displays I saw last year (2024):
