What’s the Best Beach in Fukuoka?

Sakurai Futamigaura Itoshima Japan beach area: "View of a rocky beach area in Sakurai Futamigaura, Itoshima, Japan, with the ocean waves crashing against the rocks and a green hillside in the background."

The beaches in Fukuoka were all quite different experiences for me.

Momochi Seaside Park seemed to be the most popular nearby beach and pier. It’s also right next to Fukuoka Tower and PayPay Dome so you could easily combine sites.

I also enjoyed walking along the quieter beaches in the Higashi ward like Nata Beach.

For a longer day trip from Fukuoka, I would recommend visiting the beaches near Sakurai Futamigaura Couples Stone.

If I had to do it again, I’d join a tour like this one that combines Sakurai Futamigaura, Keya beach and Keya no Ohto, a basalt cave you ride a boat into.

If you’re only spending one day in Fukuoka, Momochi Seaside Park is the easiest.

Whichever of the beaches in Fukuoka you go to, I hope you have a great time!
